Nobody explains the money side when you go freelance
You got good at the work, the clients followed, and the tax side was left for a Sunday night. That guess gets more expensive every year your income grows.
The structure you never chose
Most people start as a sole trader, or set up a company because someone said to, and never check it again. What was right at £30k is rarely right at £80k.
The claims you don’t know about
You can’t claim what nobody told you existed. Missed expenses and reliefs don’t show up as an error. They show up as a bigger tax bill.
The Sunday you don’t get back
Every hour on your own books is an hour you aren’t billing or switching off. And you still aren’t sure it’s right.
How it works
A straight answer in about two minutes
- Answer six questionsHow you’re set up, roughly what you bill, and who looks after your accounts today.
- See your result on screenWhat your current setup is doing, and the things to watch at your level of income.
- Decide what to do with itIf there’s real money at stake, you can book a review with an Accrue accountant there and then.
“The team at Accrue have been incredible with helping me set up and run my business as a contractor in the UK. Greg and Coral have always been around to help in a speedy and effective manner making it a breeze to keep my accounts up to date.”Finlay D, verified Google review
Questions
Things freelancers ask before they start
Is the check free?+
Yes. It takes about two minutes and your result appears on screen. There is nothing to pay and no obligation to speak to anyone.
Is the result tax advice?+
No. It is a general guide based on six answers. It tells you where to look. A proper answer needs your actual numbers, which is what the review call is for.
Should I stay a sole trader or go limited?+
It depends on your income, your costs and what you expect over the next few years. For some freelancers a limited company is worthwhile; for others it adds admin without much benefit. The check gives you a direction, and Accrue can then model both on your real figures.
What happens after I see my result?+
We email you a copy. If your answers suggest there is real money at stake, you can book a review with an Accrue accountant straight away. If not, you keep the result and that is the end of it.
I already have an accountant. Is this still worth doing?+
Yes. Filing on time is the minimum. The check shows the questions worth putting to them, and whether a second opinion is worth your time.
Will I get the same accountant each time?+
Yes. Accrue clients work with one named, qualified accountant who knows their situation, not a different person each time.
